SLUG's monthly meeting, featuring talks and SLUGlets. Meetings are open to the general public, and are free of charge.

We are now in Darling Harbour, near public transport and other amenities.

Our location: Atlassian, 173-185 Sussex Street, Sydney (corner of Sussex and Market Street). Entry is via the rear on Slip Street. There are stairs going down along the outside of building from Sussex St to near the entrance. A map of the area and directions on how to get there can be found here.

We start at 18:30 but we ask that people arrive 20 minutes early so we can all get into the building and start on time.

A committee member will also be standing outside the building to meet, greet, and provide directions to the venue.

Details shall be forthcoming about the content of the talks, but here is the general schedule.

Meeting Schedule

  • 6:15pm: Open Doors
  • 6.40pm: The Usual Suspects
  • 6:45pm: General Talk: Ekta Silwal - "FOSS Implementation and Localisation in Nepal"
    Ekta will be talking about the FOSS Nepal Community, how it got started, and the current projects and activities that they are involved in.
    Topics include the perception of Nepalese people regarding FOSS tools, localisation of Linux and The Open CD, a demonstration of NepaLinux and the Nepali Open CD, and challenges that the FOSS Nepal community are having with implementation of FOSS applications.

  • 7:30pm: Break
  • 7:45pm: Split into two groups for:
    • In-depth Talk: Careers Panel
      Jeff Waugh will lead a discussion of issues surrounding employment and careers in the FOSS world.

    • SLUGlets: Linux Q&A and other miscellany
  • 8:30pm: Dinner
